International Kenshido Federation (IKF)
The IKF Self-Defense Instructor Certification authorizes qualified practitioners to teach practical, responsible, and non-competitive self-defense within the Kenshido system.
This certification emphasizes personal safety, prevention, awareness, and legal responsibility, not aggression or sport combat.
Purpose of the Certification
The Self-Defense Instructor program aims to:
- Provide realistic self-defense education
- Promote personal safety and risk prevention
- Teach conflict avoidance and de-escalation
- Protect vulnerable populations
- Ensure legal and ethical compliance
Self-defense instruction under IKF is educational and preventive, not competitive.
Scope of Instruction
Certified IKF Self-Defense Instructors are authorized to teach:
- Awareness and situational prevention
- Distance management and escape strategies
- Defense against common attacks (grabs, chokes, strikes)
- Ground survival and escape techniques
- Defense against multiple attackers (basic level)
- Legal boundaries of self-defense
Weapons training is limited to defensive awareness only, not combat use.

Mandatory Ethical Obligations
All Self-Defense Instructors must:

- Protect students psychologically and physically

Legal & Safety Compliance
Self-Defense Instructors must:
- Clearly distinguish self-defense from sport fighting

- Maintain updated First Aid & CPR certification

Certification Validity & Renewal
